The targeted one. You point this at the part of you that is complaining.

Red light comes in two shapes: something that covers all of you at moderate intensity, or something that covers part of you properly. This is the second kind. A 300-LED panel at 455 W and a stated 190 mW/cm² is a serious amount of output aimed at a small area — a shoulder, a knee, a lower back — rather than spread thin across a whole body.

Before the specs, the honest part. Photobiomodulation is an active research field and the direction is encouraging, particularly around pain and function in musculoskeletal rehabilitation. But protocols in the literature vary enormously — wavelength, dose, distance, session length — and reviewers consistently name that inconsistency as the field's main weakness. Which is exactly why we are not going to quote you a percentage.

Five wavelengths, not one

Most panels at this price pick one or two wavelengths. This runs five, and the reason is depth: shorter light stays near the surface, longer reaches further in.

  • 630 and 660 nm — visible red, the wavelengths most of the published skin and surface work uses
  • 810, 830 and 850 nm — near-infrared, invisible to your eye and the deeper-reaching band

There is an optional 7-band configuration adding 480 nm and 940 nm if you want the range extended at both ends.

Dose is distance and time, not just watts

This is the thing people get wrong with a powerful panel. Irradiance falls off sharply as you move away from it, so distance changes your dose as much as the timer does. More power does not mean better results — it means you reach the same dose in less time.

Pick a distance, keep it consistent, and follow the instructions supplied rather than a protocol you read on a forum. Then give it weeks rather than days before you form a view.

Before you start

Use eye protection. At this output you do not look into it, and sunglasses are not a substitute for the goggles supplied.

If you have a light-sensitive condition such as lupus, or take photosensitising medication, talk to your doctor first. If you are being treated for an injury or a condition, ask the person treating you before you add this to it. A panel is not a diagnosis and it is not a substitute for treatment — if something is not settling, get it looked at.

The full precautions are on our safety information page. Read it before your first session.
